Chen Xi
Chen Xi, born in 1968 in Xinjiang, is a prominent Chinese contemporary artist and professor at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing. A graduate of CAFA’s oil painting department, she is known for her bold, expressive style that blends realism with conceptual depth. Her acclaimed series Being Remembered explores themes of memory, history, identity, and personal freedom through painting, installation, and video. Chen’s work often reflects on female experience and cultural transformation in modern China. She has exhibited internationally, including at the Venice Biennale and the National Art Museum of China, earning recognition as a leading voice in Chinese art.
