On the afternoon of July 26, CHAO Art Center will host a special lecture in memory of the renowned Italian artist Arnaldo Pomodoro. We are honored to welcome Daniele Crippa, who will reflect on Pomodoro’s remarkable artistic journey, his creative philosophy, and the profound influence he has had on contemporary art and his era.
Since the 1970s, Daniele Crippa has maintained a long-standing relationship with Pomodoro, beginning with exhibitions of the Marche-born artist’s works in his galleries in Cortina, Milan, and Santa Margherita Ligure. Over the years, this connection has continued to grow and endure.
Arnaldo Pomodoro (1926–2025) rose to prominence for his distinctive use of fundamental geometric forms, particularly columns, cubes, pyramids, spheres, and discs. His monumental architectural structures suggest an ongoing process of self-destruction and regeneration. His works have been exhibited in numerous major museums, including the Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris (1976), the University of California, Berkeley Art Museum (1981), the Columbus Museum of Art (1984), the Hakone Open-Air Museum in Kanagawa (1994), the Cairo Art Center (1997), and the Palazzo Magnani in Reggio Emilia (2005).
