The 8th “Beyond Borders” Art Exhibition by Marie Dalgar, titled Play Around, was held on November 5, 2017, at CHAO Art Center in Beijing. Play Around was the world’s first immersive theatrical experience centered on makeup, curated by the emerging art makeup brand Marie Dalgar in collaboration with French makeup maestro Damien Dufresne and several other renowned international artists and creative teams. Spanning multiple disciplines—including visual arts, new media, music, and dance—it presented an unprecedented journey for the mind.

Play Around brought together artists from diverse countries and cultural backgrounds, spanning multiple disciplines including multimedia, visual arts, music, dance, and spatial art, to jointly present an immersive theatrical experience centered on makeup. Within an unprecedented sensory journey, audiences traveled through surreal scenes beyond the realm of everyday life.

As the 8th “Beyond Borders” Art Exhibition by Marie Dalgar, Play Around used the language of theater to inspire audiences to search for a “lost hour” in their lives. In this dreamlike space, they could move beyond the boundaries of time and thought, write their own surreal script in the name of color, and rediscover a piece of inner sanctuary for the soul.
