Zhu Jia

Zhu Jia is a Chinese contemporary artist born in Beijing and currently based between Beijing and Los Angeles. He is represented by ShanghART Gallery. Zhu is recognized as one of the earliest pioneers of video and photographic experimentation in China, with a practice centered on the formal and conceptual possibilities of the moving image. His representative works include We Are Perfect II, among others.His 1994 experimental video Forever, created by filming Beijing streets with a rotating camera mounted on a tricycle, has become a landmark work in the history of Chinese video art. In 2003, he participated in the thematic exhibition of the Venice Biennale. In November 2024, his solo exhibition We Are Perfect II was held at ShanghART Gallery Beijing, continuing his critical exploration of the notion of “perfection.”
