I think imagination is the free, linear evolution of mental imagery under conditions where external information is temporarily blocked. In life, I start imagining when I notice a phenomenon I hadn’t paid attention to before.

There are probably two reasons I am interested in “fish”:

  1. When I was a child, after seeing fish in a lake, I had a dream in which a group of enormous grass carp stared at me with eyes larger than mine in the dark, deep water.

  2. Fish carry the truths of evolution.

What attracts me to them is the traces of evolution on their bodies and the diversity of their evolutionary paths, which far surpasses that of other vertebrate classes.
