Artist

Zhu Yunye

Zhu Yunye, born in 1980 in Jining, Inner Mongolia, earned his bachelor’s degree from the Oil Painting Department of Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts in 2004 and his master’s degree from the same institution in 2009. He currently lives and works in Beijing.

Zhu’s artistic practice primarily revolves around painting, pursuing two parallel directions: narrative-driven works based on news events, and explorations of figure–ground relationships in Gestalt theory. Over the years, he has consistently engaged with themes such as “the structure of force,” “separated wholes,” “isomorphism,” and “the relationship between painting and reality.”
