Zhang Xiaoxue

Zhang Xiaoxue earned her master’s degree from the Printmaking Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 2014. In her creative practice, she is adept at using the repetitive experimental actions of printmaking—“carving” and “printing”—as points of entry, while incorporating bodily participation into the process. Through the presence and engagement of the body, she seeks to explore the relationship between art and the body, along with its many possibilities, generating new perceptions and reflections. Her work continually focuses on the “human” as a “reactive body” to examine and reflect on the surrounding context and the changes of the times. She currently teaches at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, is a member of the China Artists Association, and serves as a committee member of the Printmaking Art Committee of the Beijing Artists Association. Her works are in the collections of the National Art Museum of China, Zhejiang Art Museum, and the Art Museum of the Central Academy of Fine Arts. She has received the Xu Beihong Art Creation Award and now lives and works in Beijing.
