Su Yi

Su Yi graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Mural Painting from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 2009 and earned her master’s degree from the same department in 2013. She is currently a professional artist living and working in Beijing.

Su Yi’s work primarily employs geometric abstract painting. Using acrylics, water-based paint, tape, and rollers, her practice creates a material language closely connected to the industrial era. Her continual inquiry into the essence of art endows geometric forms with a vitality that evolves across time and space. Her works have been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions both in China and abroad, including solo exhibitions Perishing Perception (Churu Art, 2024), Light – Su Yi Solo Exhibition (Zero Space, 2022), Layer upon Layer – Su Yi Solo Exhibition (Mingtai Space, 2016), and group exhibitions such as The 7th John Moores Painting Prize Exhibition (Powerlong Museum, 2023). Her work has received awards including the 13th Laguna Art Prize and the 3rd Jury Prize from the German-Chinese Cultural Foundation.
