Li Chang

Li Chang is an artist, independent curator, and educator born in Beijing. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Central Academy of Fine Arts and a Master of Fine Arts from the Royal College of Art in London, where she currently teaches in the MA Photography program. Guided by cross-cultural research related to Asian philosophy and aesthetics, her diverse practice focuses on the relationships and interconnections between humans and nature, as well as past and present. Her work combines multiple art forms, including moving images, photography, sound, performance, installation, and interdisciplinary collaboration. During her residency at CHAO Printmaking Studio, she created a series of work, Soundscape No.1, Soundscape No.2, and Soundscape No.3, based on computer-generated images calculating plant movement frequencies. The artist separated these images into color plates and translated the core concept into the language of printmaking using metal powder mixed with screen-printing ink, creating works that are both abstract and figurative.
